Sad Eyed Lady of The Lowlands - Bob Dylan
I had posted the end segment (there are four on the tape) of this about a month ago, here is the third and longest segment. Near the end, Dylan has a dig at former folk contemporary, Pete Seeger.
If I ever heard Pete Seeger sing this and say, “Alright everybody!”, I swear to God I’d go looking for him, man, with a fucking hammer and stick him! If the audience EVER joined in ANYWHERE, I would walk right off the stage, without a second thought man.”
This comment, probably in retaliation to Pete’s “If I had an axe I’d cut the cables!” comment from the Newport Folk Festival from the previous year, would also explain why Dylan has never performed Sad Eyed Lady Of The Lowlands live, and probably never will.
